Frequently Asked Questions...

Frequently Asked Questions:

1)  How do I join the team?
Send your race resume to DistractionMX@DistractionMX.com.  Please include not only your race/riding history, but tell us a little about yourself as well.  What are your goals?  Do you participate in any civic activities?  Who are your current sponsors?  When do your contracts end? Have you received any awards (on or off the track), What you expect to get out of joining the team, etc.  We will review it and get back to you!

2) How do I sponsor the team?
Just go to our home page and click the "Sponsor Us!" link.  All of the details are on that page.

3) As a business, how can I get involved?
From our home page, click the "Businesses" link.  All of the details are on that page.

4) Do I have to participate in team distractions/events?
No. You don't.  You can be one of our best fund raisers.  You are rewarded by helping others.  We are rewarded by watching you succeed.

5) Do I need to be a professional or "A" class rider?
Absolutely not.  Often times, the professionals or "A" class riders are already receiving a lot of help.  We certainly won't turn the "A" class or professional riders down if they wish to help out though.  We don't care whether you are an "A" rider who flashes whips over every jump, or if you are just entering your first race.  As a team, we will help you succeed however we can based on your contributions to the team/fund raising/distractions.

6) I just want the sponsors and don't want to help fund raise or distract someone in need.
We wish you the best of luck in all of your endeavors, however we don't feel that we have anything to offer you.

7) What happens if I do something wrong?
We hope that this will never be necessary  Remember that we represent all of our sponsors and participating businesses.  Because of that, our team members attitudes/actions are to be at the highest standard at all times.  All riders/racers/team members status is reviewed by current 5-Star racers.  Any disciplinary action will be discussed and weighed against the issue.  Some of the possible actions include (depending on issue):
    a) Temporary suspension from the team/sponsorship benefits/etc.
    b) Permanent suspension from the team/sponsorship benefits/etc.
    c) If necessary, law enforcement will be involved.

8) What do I get out of it?
a) You get to help some people out who are in situations that all of us hope we will never be in.
b) You get sponsored at levels depending on your fund raising and/or your participation in team events/distractions.
c) You get discounts at our participating businesses based on your fund raising and/or your participation in team events/distractions.
d) Oh yeah, did I mention practice/training sessions with our upper level riders/racers???? How much money would that save ya?  How much more could you learn and apply on the track???

9) How long does the sponsorship last?

We will be reviewing team sponsorship contracts at the end of each contract term.  At that time, we will invite others to put in their offers as well.

10) I'm in a different state/area... what about me?
Send us your resume as listed above.  We already have a great satellite team in Ohio (DistractionMX - Hot Pursuit) and we are working on one in Michigan.  Do you have a team that's willing to do what it takes?

11) Do I get cash?

No.  Sorry, but if we give you cash, you jeopardize your amateur status.  Instead, we will help you in other ways, such as (but not limited to) ability to purchase goods from our sponsors/business as well as rewards for being an outstanding fund raiser!  You also receive training from the teams upper level riders at practice events.  That alone, is worth some big bucks!

12) Do I need good grades?
YES!  If you are not over the age of 18 and you have not received your diploma/G.E.D.  The grade average to maintain your team member status is "B" average.  If you don't get a "B" average, you will be placed on probation and we will require notes/emails from your teacher indicating that you are currently progressing.  Two consecutive quarters/simesters of a below "B" average will result in temporary suspension from the team until such time that you get back up to a "B" average.

13) Can you take us to the races?
Simply, No.  It is our policy (and a well known fact that) Motocross is a FAMILY SPORT.  We expect to keep it that way.  We can not and will not take riders to races without their parents and/or legal guardian.

14) What do I need to race?
As with any sport, you will need the proper racing gear, we prefer that the more you have, the better.  You will also need to apply for your AMA card which can be acquired by visiting www.amadirectlink.com.  You will also need to have a district racing card.  Both of these items can USUALLY be applied for at the track itself.  It does take a little longer at sign up, but it's worth it.

15) What do you mean by Fund Raising?
Well, we don't expect you to go door to door... rather, simply have people order the products that we sell through our website!  In short, the more people you send to us and purchase products from our website, the more help we provide YOU... our team member or satellite team.

16) When you say Satellite Team, what do you mean?
A satellite team is just a sister (or brother) team in some other part of the country.  Do you have a team that you'd like to become a DistractionMX Satellite Team?  Send us an email, tell us A LOT about your team, and what you feel you could do to help us!  If it's good, we'll write back and tell you how we know we can help your team!

17) Promoting Our Team And Our Sponsors
We have sponsors that work with us to raise funds for people who really need it, and they work with us on other levels that allows us to help our team members out as well.  We EXPECT that ALL of our team members promote our team(s) and our sponsors ONLY.  No EXCEPTIONS.  If you sign a contract with us, we expect you to live up to your obligations.  This means that you can NOT accept sponsorship from us and promote a company that is not involved with the team.   If you can not be loyal to our team and our sponsors, do NOT apply.  If you have a company/sponsor that is interested, put them in touch with us (DistractionMX@DistractionMX.com) and we will try to work with them to get them involved.  If you are caught promoting others, you risk suspension or exclusion from the team.

18) What will people say when we arrive?
Well... During positive distractions and off-track team events, we believe people will say "Ohh... GOOD! DistractionMX is here!".  And during racing events... our competition will say: "Oh crap! DistractionMX is here!".  (we'll monitor that... we're looking forward to hearing both!).
